What are we doing?

The aim of this project is to provide an easy to use solution concerning the various basic necessities of working in projects from the human project resource point of view (not the project management!). It's not (just another) project management solution.

A project in this term is a wide term, it can be a real project, a customer visit, a business contact, a vacation journey or other.

The main focus is therefore not so much to provide a lot of possibilities und various customization options (there are allready a lot of business solutions for that who trying to do exactly this), but to create a small but capable core application with various possibilities to create input and output to this app.

^

Core features

  • the ability to let it run either as an web app or a standalone app with GUI
  • the ability to support multiple ways of persistence
  • the ability to provide input data via frontend, PDA, SMS, eMail and other
  • the ability to produce output, reports and interfaces in multible formats
^

Technical Features

  • small framework based on either jakarta OJB, XML or EJB persistence
  • plugin concept for providing business actions

  • Java GUI, Eclipse Plugin, Eclipse Product
^

^

Example

A person works in various projekts and needs therfore the ability to manage the incidental costs, travels, schedules and project times. This needs to be done either from the "own" resource-point of view or from the prospective of a resource bundle/group.

This person needs a drivers or travel logbook to calculate and to deduct their expenses. This can be done either in relation to the project (if needed) or in relation to the own planning and usage.

As well as the acquisition of project times.

These both points are covered by the first "Business Actions" which will be provided within the first release.

  • Travel Plugin
  • TimeTracker Plugin

On both of these actions can be applied the supported framework input and output formats (EMail, SMS, PDF, XML, PDA, Web, GUI, WebServices, ...).
